This Catalyst aims to create a capability sharing platform for smart city ecosystem partners to reduce repeated development costs and improve efficiency in building campus networks. The project will analyze the common business needs for campus networks and develop capability components that can be shared and reused to build different types of campuses, such as industrial, high-tech, logistics or economic development zones.

Smart cities bring together many stakeholders and technologies, which need to collaborate and be integrated, respectively. Every campus network has unique requirements, which makes it extremely difficult to develop a single product to cover the needs of all types of users. To deliver smart city campus projects quickly, products need to be standardized. A capability sharing platform enables common components to be reused, rather than starting from scratch for every new campus project.

The Catalyst project will extract common requirements from three layers and realize opportunities to reuse components across projects:
• Data layer, which includes components such as Internet of Things (IoT) device access analysis and data storage
• Business logic layer, which contains the components for workflow, business analysis, image recognition and video recognition
• Presentation layer, which includes the dashboard, portal and building information modelling (BIM)
